There's really not a whole lot to say about me. Some of that just isn't y'all's business to be honest

Website Fast Facts

  • Was created on September 19th, 2021
  • Mostly has been just a place for me to tinker around with HTML and get some sort of bearings with it in a more open sandbox spot than in a hyper niche spot. Was also thinking it'd make for a better character repository page than trying to set up a custom tumblr for that.

About the Webmaster

I'm just sort of not keen about giving out too much information about me. Mostly as a Internet Safety Holdover from the 2000's / Aught's wherein people were like "if you even give an adjacent HINT about your real life identity Serial killers will begin to pour out of the walls and hunt you down for sport". Compared to how kids seem to be these days throwing all their personally identifiable information out on the web I like being an internet hermit.

Not that you can't really be open about yourself or anything like that! It's just a case of "I'm not keen on giving out any real world identifiers about myself like hints about my home address or my actual face". It's good actually to be mindful of internet safety.

It's just also kind of nice to have some clearly defined lines between how I am / present myself online vs in the real world. It's hard to articulate it but I do appreciate not having to worry about the various consequences of my online presence being linked to my IRL presence (and let me tell ya there's lots of consequences that run in both directions for having really linked internet presence and real life presence).

I'm like, quasi-furry. Mostly picked it up when I was younger because of the aformetioned "you must remain COMPLETLEY ANONYMOUS" attitudes I was raised around, and also if i'm going to have an internet Identity i might as well have fun with it. That being said i'm not really that much of a participant in the whole furry fandom thing outside of having various fursonas over the years as internet-sonas (and it's always some kind of cat so my little joke for me is that it's all the same one cat it's just throwing different coats of paint over itself throughout the years). I feel like it still counts as being furry on some level with the deliberate choice to keep using fursonas rather than create some other type of sona-beast or representation of myself.

If you'd like to know a little more about my 'sona, click here!

There's not a lot of actually identifiable info I will give out except the following. I am over the age of 21 (Make of that information what you will).

Favorite Things

Favorite Music types: Videogame OSTs (but it depends what sort these days given how many games are out there), 2000's to late 2010's pop, electroswing, weirdcore / webcore, breakcore (it scritches the brain)

Favorite Flavors: Sweet, Salty / Savory

Favorite Nintendo-type game franchises: Kirby, Pokemon, Zelda, Splatoon

Favorite Studio Ghibli Movie tracks - Path of the Wind from My Neighbor Totoro, Mehve To Korubetto No Tatakai (A Battle Between Mehve And Corvette) from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, The Dragon Boy from Spirited away.

Kita Minami · Mehve To Korubetto No Tatakai (A Battle Between Mehve And Corvette) - Joe Hisaishi

A battle between Mehve and Corvette is deceptively hard to track down to find the exact version from the film, or at least through youtube or a good chunk of music streaming versions. The closest I could find is this version of the track from soundcloud. That being said, if you've never seen Nausicaa of the valley of the wind, you should at least consider watching the original scene it was in, as it's very well animated in my opinion (though it is absolutely an old 80's anime and the audio quality of the video in particular I do not think does it justice). You can find other renditions of this track, but a lot of them take more of a slower approach for lack of a better term.

Halloween Playlist

Most of this is taken from the 8tracks playlist "It's Time - The Ultimate" by Blendy, which is a compilation of their other halloween playlists into one larger playlist with an addition from me at the end.

Took a little bit of work to export the whole thing into a text list given how 8tracks works, but I got it all formatted here. No youtube links but with the names and sources listed there, it should not be hard to find all the songs. It is a staggering 83 tracks though.

FAQ

Q: Where did you learn to code?

A: Well a lot of my roots for html / css coding was learned through the The Endless Forest Community Forums, and a lot of it is what i'd call micro-theming. This is to say the html / css of that website was wonky and a lot of it was learned how to make tiny self-contained themes by forcing the websites' main html / css into cooperating. This is a bit in contrast since I know a lot of people tend to learn it through many other means that are more like sandboxes / truly open ended rather than where I learned it where it's very constrained

It took me a long time to re-pick up html / css because compared to working in that forum's very limited constraints everything else was so open ended that it was actually really intimidating, but I do cherish the small amount of time I spent on those forums since the user made tutorials and things were excellent as a result of having to

  1. Teach how to do HTML / CSS to do character profile customization
  2. teach how to do the above but within the very limiting constraints of the website in such a way that it wasn't going to break the website on your little page

I didn't spend too terribly long on there and left for the waters of Flight rising around 2013 and haven't really been back there since roughly 2014. It's a shame that I can't seem to get my old login again to trawl the forums to see if I can pull up the old stuff where I learned some of these lessons but I learned some important things like

"HTML divs are like wrappers / boxes where you put things in them and they're like containers and CSS is like paint / decorations that you put to the outside of the Divs but do not change the items contained within the divs"

and

"when testing use very obnoxious colors to make sure you're seeing what you're doing. Once the groundwork is laid make it all pretty but this is how you do an efficient block out to make sure it works before dressing it up"

Q: Why do you have separate Bookmarks, Links, and Button pages rather than roll it into one? What's the deal with that?

A: I sort them out that way because I find it useful to me. Bookmarks are things I'd like to check up on periodically, the Buttons page is for my hoard of buttons (and I want to say having a page just for neocities buttons from other people is not that uncommon), and the Links page is for links and things I use regularly.

This is all to say I use the Links a lot, the buttons a bit, and then the bookmarks are infrequent but I look at those often enough that I want to remember the links even if I don't visit that often.

Other

D&D Podcast Recomendations

The Adventure Zone (But only the Balance and Amnesty Campaigns and the Oneshots, Later Campaigns suffer from some weird problems that I would file as some sort of franchise decay where they're no longer really having fun anymore and it's become a chore to them, you can just tell when playing it).

Critical Role - Campaigns 2 and 3 are great. Campaign 1 is contentious depending on how much you like the stuff before / after Acaba leaves the group. I personally liked some of the stuff in the underdark section but campaign 1 has otherwise been kind of a hard sell because I don't like just skipping directly to the good bits (I love me some context) but also Acaba is just not a fun player to play with (at the time of recording; I don't know if after beating his addictions he got better about not being a metagamer or not) and it just ruins the vibes. Trying to not get into the drama but also that is kind of part of why it's a hard sell.

SupergeekMike's put out a few videos, and there's also another good video about That Guy type people.

Six Feats Under - I haven't really listened to a lot of their stuff outside of the Mouseguard campaign they're running but I really do love that campaign because it's got Drama and Funny stuff and it's just all around great

Glass Cannon podcast & sister podcasts - These guys are just great for comedy podcasts. Like there's lots of drama and serious stuff but the jokes are also real great.

Dimension 20 is also good but a bit of a hard sell because a lot of their stuff you have to pay for and i'm not sure how accessible it is if you're looking for an audio only experience.

Legends of Avantris is also a great Tabletop game group. Like they're consistently the best in recent memory about being the funniest podcast that also takes itself seriously

You can tell that I like a good actual play DnD / Tabletop podcast where they're not so hung up on being a serious tolkien expy. They allow for really funny jokes and gags but still manage to create compelling stories.

I've also heard good things about friends at the table but I've never listened myself
