FFXIVlog
I got abut ~5-6 months to get at least to shadowbringers (being realistic, I don't think I'm gonna get to dawntrail that quickly from a just started account / character and at this conjecture it really would not make a difference if I stuck with the one I made and abandoned vs making a new one).
Also wild that the free trial goes all the way up through stormblood, last I recalled it was just A Realm Reborn and Heavensward
My current character is Ricgomori Tenebris (based off of my OC of the same name and made at least somewhat in their likeness or as best as could be made). They're a black mage but i'm open to trying new classes, I just like the whole Magic Thing. Despite what Pint may say, I'm in fact having fun at the early levels.
About the Warrior of Light
Ricgomori / "Mori" Tenebris
Pretty mush just kind of shoved my OC Ricgomori into ffxiv and there's a few ways I could play that
either it's super direct and literal [this is in fact a fun thing to do] or it's just like same-ish character just contextualized into the world setting
still this particular take of them is
- really quiet / a person of few words to the average stranger
- once they warm up to a person they can be really witty and snarky but are also generally kind
- Currently a Keeper of the Moon Fem Miqo'te
- Intended to be either a Fem or a Masc Hrothgar [Ricgomori is genderfluid so it is just a model preference for me]
- Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te is growing on me though
Solveig Tenebris / Camillasch
Gender: Genderfluid [AFAB], uses she / he / they
A hrothgar that was involved in the Garlean empire stuff technically because she came from a new-rich family that figured it’d be better to assimilate rather than resist. She comes from a somewhat big family in that she’s got a large amount of siblings, but did not really fit in the family very well or their expectations of her. Ran away and defected from her family long before eventually defecting from the Garlean empire completely, she went to Eorzia for better opportunities rather than going to Thavanair, Meracydia, or Tural
Side tangent but I guess in my headcanon is that for defectees there were plenty of places that were better or worse to go to, but the big three by boat were Thavanair (close and easy), Eorzia (moderate difficulty) and Tural (very long very dangerous but considered much safer from garlemald because of how far away it is). Not that there weren’t other options, but those are some of the more appealing ones, and not everyone’s keen to go to sharlayan due to the bureaucratic system there. Granted they had to keep it down about Tural so not a lot of people knew about it to utilize it but the idea was “let’s not give the Garlean empire more ideas on who to invade.
General headcanon is that Meracydia is in fact also doing fine despite all the damage that Bahamut did, but much like Tural a lot of people keep their mouths shut because they don’t want to deal with invasions on top of all the fantasy post-apocalypse stuff happening over there. It’s an option but not one favored well due to the distance
Sibling name - Zitka Acamilla
Funny ideas for a WOL / FFXIV Character or alt
-just put your OC into there
-I’m sorely tempted to try to make one of my flight rising dragons as an alt at some point but only if I can pull off the look. Au Ra are unwieldy but I feel like I can make it work.
-Just a character from a different game property (if you can successfully commit to the cosplay)
-I’m very tempted to either do a fear and hunger character, or perhaps just kirby’s magolor as a blue-themed black mage
-consider: duplicitous cat mage’s redemption arc by being assigned as the warrior of light.

Picked up the game again and started We Must Rebuild and ended at Out of House and Home.

Made incredible progress, mostly because I finally worked out how to get a controller setup set up and that's a bit easier on me to do for this kind of game than a mouse and keyboard setup since I don't want to do Macros and have still yet to determine if there are any combat hotkeys or if that falls under a macro as well.
Picked up from Out of house and Home and ended on staring Takin' What They're Givin'.

Made more progress on early game stuff, Ricgomori's Current loadout (being a keepers of the Moon Miqote) is growing on me even though I created them to be changed to hrothgar at a later date.
Got from Takin' What They're Givin' to Storms on the horizon. Also did some more of the thaumaturge quests, but got to the point where I was like "yeahhh no i'm just gonna keep doing the MSQ".

Started Duty, honor, and country
Learned that it's important to also attune to the Aethernet stuff in the big cities (somehow did not realize this was important until now)
also finally got past the threat of superiority

completed duty honor and country and A Matter of Tradition
alsp completed up to the lvl 20 thaumaturge quests.
Learned the hard way that the game does in fact have fall damage and to not just jump off of cliffs
- probably going to work that into character lore, has a limp or possibly even a cane after deciding that jumping off of a cliff was a good idea
- though the scions take much longer to actually hear the straight story (lots of other rumors and things w/ high stakes and adventures are there for said limp)
- the jump did something of about a half to 3/4th's of my whole health bar it was wild

quite some time has passed! The Doylist explanation is that I got busy between work and school and having mild back pain. I suppose the watsonian explanation is that falling off of a cliff and coming so close to literally dying, that's gonna have consequences like bedrest and the aformentioned limping that will now haunt Mori.
side tangent love watsonian vs doylist explanations as a way to denote "i'm talking about what's happening inside the fiction here" vs "okay this is talking full context outside of the fiction that may inform said fiction".
Also fell in love with a stray plot bunny for an Alt WOL where it's just "hey a Moogle really wanted to adventure so they worked out the magic to be a playable race out of good concern that nobody'd take them seriously as an adventuring moogle and then now has to keep up the act under more and more intense situations"
with the constriction of it being like they gotta wear a hidden accessory that keeps them playable race / the spoken (not sure if that's the right word for the whole group of playable races) shaped that is super resistant to other magics so long as the physical item itself isn't damaged or destroyed (i'm thinking like the logic of the webcomic skin deep where mythical creatures pass as human using powerful magic that's cooked into medallions, which are super strong but are dependent on the medallions not being damaged). Other Moogles can tell but are polite enough not to tell others / share the knowledge that yeah this is some elaborate fantasia-adjacent magic going on, some other races / beings can tell to various degrees but a lot of it is up to familiarity with moogles to sus it out. It does not help that much like the Moogle Stiltzkin, this Moogle can in fact talk common pretty well and can speak without interjecting kupos into conversation (with or without the echo).
mild to moderate spoiler territory but literally almost nobody ever figures this out until late late game. None of the ascians figure it out, the dragons of the first brood / the horde at most get mad sus vibes but can't put it together (they can tell something's off but it's not scrutible to them, like seeing puzzle pieces go together but not enough of them to solve a puzzle).
This is all to say I think it'd be super funny for the only person to ever figure it out (outside of Hydaelen) is Midgardsormr who surprisingly does not tell anyone but lets the WOL squirm under the knowledge that they could in fact blow the whole cover story out of the water by virtue of being old enough and powerful enough to have seen things like this before and recognize a hidden Moogle.
Very funny idea of "okay Azem's reincarnated and they're a Moogle, Hydaelen's chosen is a Moogle of all things" (pretty sure regardless of anything Hydaelen does in fact know).
played through from the fancy feast up until right after the sastasha(?) dungeon. Considering that i'm currently 23 in thaumaturge i'm considering picking up summoner or warrior' precurser job. I had a so-so experience but some of it was just doing it at a real late hour. Wasn't great and I can only hope that other raids going forward will be better with real people (I played with NPC's)
Was proud that I had saved a lot of gil but then messed up big time and went back to ul'dah but then the quest giver was in gridania and then the quests were in limsa.... so sad, Mori now knows the terrible lessons of money and currency know. I know I still gotta get that chocobo mount now that i'm like lvl 23 but the downside is that now's probably a good opportunity to pick up a new class and I just can't pick.
